Make the holidays merry and bright for local families
Started by Kiwanis in 1958, the Kiwanis Canby Community Food & Toy Drive is a tradition that brings the entire community together. Civic groups, church groups, scouting troops, businesses and individuals step up to volunteer and donate. In 2024 we served 510 families, with toys for 1,100 children and food for 2,300 people.
This program serves residents who live within the boundaries of the Canby School District and who are not receiving assistance from another holiday program. We coordinate with the county-wide Clackamas Compassion in Action to ensure that everyone in the county gets the help they need. Ours is a totally local event.
We provide gifts for children 0-18 years old without any toys from the Portland TV toy drives or other events outside our community.
People who live alone and adults without children are also eligible for food gift cards. We do not require proof of need BUT WE DO REQUIRE PROOF OF LIVING IN THE CANBY SCHOOL DISTRICT. Just fill out an application by the deadline and you can receive a food gift card, plus toys and gifts for kids 18 and under.
Applications were due by December 5
Registered families may pick up their gifts on December 12 at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds. PLEASE BRING PROOF OF ADDRESS, SUCH AS A UTILITY OR OTHER BILL, RENT RECEIPT, OR DRIVER LICENSE. On December 13, we will deliver unclaimed gifts between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., as long as the recipient is home.
If you did not register by the deadline, we may still be able to help you. You are welcome to come by the fairgrounds on Friday and fill out an application, but you will have to come back between Noon and 2 p.m. to see if we are able to help.

On Wednesday we partnered with the Rotary Club of Canby to put together the gifts for our family participants of the the Kiwanis Canby Community Food & Toy Drive.
It reminds us just how powerful our community is when we come together. Laughter, teamwork, and a shared goal filled the room as each gift bag took shape.
