Since 1938, Kiwanis Club of Canby has offered a helping hand to children. We subscribe wholeheartedly to the Kiwanis International motto, “Serving the Children of the World.” Our volunteer and fundraising activities are directed to activities that help young people.
We welcome new members from all walks of life who share our commitment to volunteering, serving our community, and having fun. Our members represent a mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds, and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children. Through unique and innovative service projects, we are “Serving the Children of the World.”
Kiwanis Club of Canby provided food and toys for 532 families and toys for 980 children during the Kiwanis Canby Community Food & Toy Drive in 2025. The entire community came together to help 2,158 children and adults.
How our club serves
Our major volunteer activities and programs start with the Kiwanis Canby Community Food & Toy Drive, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in the Canby School District and Mulino, and the Kiwanis Kiddie Capers Parade (which opens the Clackamas County Fair). But that’s just the beginning. We also provide support and sponsorship to a wide variety of other projects, including scholarships for high school seniors, sponsorship of Scouting, and mentoring students in Kiwanis service leadership clubs – Key Club at Canby High School and Terrific Kids in Canby elementary schools.

At the end of each meeting, Canby Kiwanis members come together in a simple but meaningful way—by donating spare change to support Kiwanis S.I.G.N. This Pacific Northwest District–wide humanitarian effort helps heal bone-shattering trauma in children and the adults who care for them in developing countries.
In regions where severe injuries are often caused by traffic accidents and access to medical resources is limited, Kiwanis S.I.G.N. provides free surgical implants that make life-changing treatment possible for children, caregivers, and primary wage earners. Through these small weekly contributions, our members are helping deliver hope, healing, and a chance at recovery to families around the world—proving that even spare change can make a powerful difference. 💙💛 ... Congratulations to SOAR Classroom Assistant Carol Jean Pemberton for being recognized with the Canby Area Recognition of Excellence (CARE) Award!
Carol Jean is known for her warmth, kindness, and genuine care for everyone she encounters. Known for dressing up and smiling constantly, her peers described her as having “an outward presence as bright and joyful as her inward soul.” Students know Carol Jean as a trusted, steady presence who will help with anything they’re facing.
“Carus Elementary is profoundly better because of Carol Jean Pemberton,” her peers said in her nomination. “We are proud to call her one of our own, and we can think of no one more deserving of recognition through the CARE Award.”
The Kiwanis Club of Canby is proud to be a sponsor of the CARE Award, celebrating outstanding school staff like Abbie who make a difference in our community. ... See MoreSee Less
