WE LOVE A PARADE! The Canby Kiwanis Kiddie Capers Parade has been the traditional kickoff for the Clackamas County Fair since 1948. Kids from all over Clackamas County are invited to lead the way to the grand opening of the fair.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. Judging begins at 9 a.m. and entrants who want to be eligible for ribbons and prizes should be in place in their categories from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., when the Color Guard leads the way through town to the fairgrounds.
It’s free to enter the parade! Registration is required in order to participate. A parent or guardian must sign the registration form. You can print the form ahead of time and fill it out (links above), or get a form the morning of registration. Larger groups are encouraged to complete a group form with all parent signatures ahead of time.
Every child up to age 18 receives a participation ribbon, and is eligible for awards based on their entry category. First, second, and third place entries in individual categories receive a prize ribbon and a small cash award. Group entries such as marching units and floats are eligible for a prize ribbon.
Children and accompanying adults who are in the parade receive a ticket for free admission to the fair UNTIL WE RUN OUT. Tickets are good for one day’s admission during the fair.
Free Bike Decorating
Kids can decorate their bike for free at William Knight Elementary in the covered area on Monday, August 11, from 3-6:30 p.m., the afternoon before the parade. We’ll have lots of flowers, streamers, and fun one-of-a-kind items! Then, you can leave your bike at the school overnight, where it will be safely stored.
